Interested to know what sort of trees people have linked to their DNA test.

I have a private searchable tree with my direct ancestors only. I'm wondering if it is worthwhile linking my results to my full tree to help identifying matches etc.

What sort of tree do you have linked to yours?

I have my full public tree linked to mine.

My full public tree is linked, I have always researched siblings of ancestors and their descendants which has led to some good Thrulines matches. The one for my husband began as direct ancestors only (public) but I add bits when he gets an interesting match.

Thanks both.

I've always researched siblings etc and have quite an extensive (fully private) tree. My thinking is adding my full tree might give some good Thrulines and help identify some of the pages and pages of matches with only small trees etc but i'm not overly keen on doing that!

My Ancestry tree is private and I get all the DNA matches and Thru Lines.

I manage several family members DNA - my two daughters are linked to a public direct ancestors tree but my Dad and I are linked to my sprawling public family tree of his family. As I have other public and private trees, I think that ThruLines will pick up any matches.

I also have a private, but searchable tree of bits and pieces of trees from DNA matches. I usually take one couple in their tree, and try to expand and work back to find the common ancestor. Sometimes the clues are just not enough, but I hope someday a new DNA match, or the original one, will put in more info and then find a common ancestor.
