What does her middle initial stand for, Tinkerbe?

I think she's transcribed as Mary Sinsby on ancestry on the 1891 census, kitchenmaid in Westminster. The surname looks like Grinsby on the actual image.

And on the 1901 she is transcribed as Mary A Grandy on Ancestry, but it definitely says Gransby on the image. She is a cook in Pinner, Middlesex, with Alice M Gransby age 17 also born Bushey (housemaid). But she doesn't have any children of her own with her.

Ooh, and on the 1911 census there is a Mary Taylor age 36 in Chelsea, born Bushey! And she's with a Frederick Taylor age 46.

Now I've had time to play with the free search on the 1911 census a bit more, these are all the Taylors in the household in Chelsea:
Frederick Taylor Head 46 London Shop Assistant (that took quite a few guesses!)
Mary Taylor Wife 36 Bushey
Edith Taylor Daughter 13 London
Olive Taylor Daughter 12

Of course Edith and Olive could well be Frederick's children from a previous marriage, especially as he was quite a bit older than Mary. Trying to find them in 1901...

I've got the image on 1911.

They've been married 14 years and had 8 children, 1 has died.

PM me your email addy if want the image

Hmmm, there was an Edith Agnes Gransby born in Hackney Oct-Dec 1897, and an Edith A Gransby / Taylor got married in Chelsea in Apr-Jun 1947 to a Philip H Williams. So it does look likely that Edith was Mary's daughter born before the marriage to Frederick. But where was Edith in 1901, then?

Ooh, Edith Gransby came back to England from New York in 1930, age 33, address given as 48 Burnsall Street, Chelsea, no Taylor or Olive listed with her, though.

But where was Edith in 1901, then?

She was in Bushey mistranscribed as Gransley with her grandparents! Why didn't I think of looking there before?! They also have an Arthur J(?) age 7, born Hackney.

Presumably that would be Arthur and Edith!

Wonder who the one who died was. Lilly is crossed out on the 1911 census.
