I have now found the origin of my great-great-aunt's name.
She was LOUISA HUBBERT QUINTRELL.

Louisa Ann Ellis married Nathaniel Hubbert in 1823 at Finsbury by licence.

So far I have nine children for the couple, but the first one I found was in 1829. He was William Henry Hubbert and lived until 1901.

The family moved to Portsea, where Louisa Hubbert would have met Jane Wood, grandmother of Louisa Hubbert Quintrell. Jane Wood's father Newbourn Wood and Nathaniel Hubbert both came from Lincolnshire and were both drapers.

Six of the other children died in infancy or young.

I can't find any records, apart from christening records and the 1841 census, for Robert Hubbert, baptised in 1834 at St John's, Portsea, and Mary Hubbert, whose only record is the 1841 Census.

Louisa is absent and in the household is Harriet Beaumont, aged 30. The Hubberts had a son named George Beaumont Hubbert in 1835 and a daughter Harriet Beaumont Hubbert in 1837. No baptisms for them, just their burials.

How is Harriet Beaumont related to them?

It seems that Harriet is a widow on the 1841. This is possibly her marriage

1 Jan 1835 in Portsea, George William Beaumont to Harriet Maria Ellis.

This ties in with the child born in 1835. As yet I cannot find a death for George, but there is a baptism for Harriet Maria Ellis on 13 May 1804, born on 7 July 1803 in Portsea. This matches to a death for Harriet in Jun quarter 1860 in Portsea. Cannot find a family link to the Hubbards, will keep looking.

Thanks, Crawfie. Off to investigate.

Harriet Maria Ellis' baptism is on FMP in 1804 with a birth date of 7th July 1803. Parents were William and Ann Ellis so she was Louisa Ann's sister.

Ah - I couldn't find a baptism for Louisa Ann so couldn't make the connection.

I presume you have deaths for Nathaniel and Louisa. I did find this in the papers:

Hampshire Telegraph, Saturday 15th July 1848
On the 13th June, at the city of Detroit, U.S. of typhus fever, aged 14, Robert 2nd son of late Mr Hubbert, draper, Landport.

Also on 31 July 1852, the death notice for Louisa Maria, only surviving daughter of the late Mr Hubbert, draper of Landport. Mary must have died previously then.

Just to add that Mary is 4 and born in county (Hampshire) on the 1841 census; I don't think that has been mentioned already.

Thanks, Crawfie and Kiterunner, especially for the death of Robert. What was he doing in the USA at the age of 14?

There are a fair few Hubbert burials at Portsea for Nathaniel, Louisa and their children.

Interesting that Mary had already died.

Poor Louisa, all those children who predeceased her, and the one son who survived had no children.

Find a Grave has a Robert Hubbert buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Detroit, with Thomas Hubbert who died 10 Feb 1847 age 52 and Sarah Hubbert who died 10 Nov 1871 age 75. I can't read what it says on the tombstone, so I'm not sure whether it's the same Robert or not, but maybe related if not?

Thanks, Kate. If Robert had relations out there it would explain a lot!

Ancestry has a Robert Hubert arriving New York 6 Nov 1846, age 11, from Liverpool, with Nathl Hubert age 21, a waggonmaker (I think it says), John Hubert 17, Rebecca Hubert 7 or 17, I'm not sure which, and Sarah Hubert 16.

Ah, just found the rest of them on the previous image! Thomas Hubert 46, farmer, Mrs Hubert 44, and Robert Hubert 19. So it looks likely that Thomas and Sarah had a son Robert and also took their nephew Robert with them.

Wow, thanks, Kate.

I think the Hubberts were from Lincolnshire.

This isn't my tree at all but the name connection to my great-great-aunt piqued my curiousity.

Kate, is Thomas Hubbert's age clear on the arrival?

He married in 1820 and his wife Sally (Sarah) is a minor, however he isn't.

If he is Nathaniel Hubbert's brother, his parents are Nathaniel and Rebecca and he was baptised at St Mary le Wigford, Lincoln on 25th May 1794.

He has two children with the names Nathaniel and Rebecca.

I note he is given as being 52 when he died in 1847, which seems better.

Yes, it clearly says 46.

Thanks.

There was another Hubbert brother, Robert, baptised in 1799 also at St Mary le Wigford, Lincoln.
