Unusual name, probably horrific mistranscriptions.
I have seen Alban and Albern, also Stambridge.

Albon Stanbridge born 1843 in Little Compton, Gloucestershire, parents William and Eliza

1851 with his parents

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=8860&path=Warwickshire.Little+Compton.ALL.3.15&sid=&gskw=Eliza+Stanbridge&cr=1

1861 Albon is staying with his aunt in Chipping Norton

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=8767&iid=OXFRG9_908_913-0680&fn=Alban&ln=Stanbridge&st=d&ssrc=&pid=16332800

1881 Albon is a boarder here in Little Compton

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=7572&iid=WARRG11_1520_1525-0173&fn=Albern&ln=Stambridge&st=d&ssrc=&pid=22212852

I cannot find him in 1871, 1891 and 1901

His death was in 1910 in Cheltenham Jun qtr 6a 223

This is what happens when men don't get married lol!

Erm, isn't Little Compton in Warwickshire? (near the boarder? or does it swap from side to side?!)

It swaps Merry. I have found it listed as both on the same census.:confused:

Was his father William?

Jackson's Oxford Journal (Oxford, England), Saturday, January 26, 1861; Issue 5622

Thomas Bamford was charged with having assaulted Mr Stanbridge, innkeeper of the Red Lion Inn, Little Compton; the defendant pleaded guilty and was fined 10s inc costs.

Jackson's Oxford Journal (Oxford, England), Saturday, July 16, 1859; Issue 5542

William was President of the Little Compton Friendly Association in 1859

Jackson's Oxford Journal (Oxford, England), Saturday, May 7, 1864; Issue 5793

Reuben Stanbridge of Little Compton was charged by Police constable Quarterman with leaving his horse and cart on the highway at Enstone; fined 10s inc costs; paid.

None of which finds Albon at all!! lol

I can find both a William and a John Stanbridge who could be siblings as born a few years before in Little Compton.

Unless Albon got fed up with having to spell his name to the enumerator:

"A-L-B-A , no no no no. A-L-B-O-R, no no nono. Oh darn it, just put John"

Yes, Albon had siblings John, Thomas, William, Ellen, Reuben and Alfred Peter

Have you cinsidered Reuben STanbridge in 1871 as a possible enumerator error?

I've tried searching using FMP in case their transcriptions were better but no luck.

1851 lists Albon and Reuben on the same census so not the same person.

This is a bit of a long shot, but could this be him in 1871 living in Stretton on the Foss, Warks?

Albert Humbridge, aged 25, unmarried, servant, occupation: Ostler, born Little Compton

mmmmmmmm don't know Sabrina. He was a warehouseman in 1861 and cattle dealer in 1881. Age is out as well.

Is this Albert anywhere to be found in 1861 and 1881 where I do have Albon?

What's his younger brother's name in 1851? (aged 3)

Thanks Jess, hadn't seen that.

I have been searching for Alb*

Just get loads of Alberts. Stanbridge is mistranscribed a lot as well. Obvious Stambridge and Standbridge but I found one of them under Hanbridge a few days ago.
