Part 2:

It seems that William and Alexander Smith Sim went to New York:

William is buried there too.

I found this on Ancestry:

Nellie must be Helen.

There is an obituary on Ancestry for Dr Alexander Smith Sim and other information, which I can't view as I don't have a worldwide subscription.

Could someone please tell me what the obituary says?

I'm hoping if the father James Sim is the father of my Isabella Richardson a DNA match might pop up sometime.

I still have to eliminate the other James Sims!

Among other interesting things, Elizabeth, it says:

"Dr. Alexander S. Sim, 51, head of the Delsim Sanatorium, 61 Greene ave., and a practising physician in Brooklyn for the past 25 years, died yesterday in his home, 400 Clinton ave. Death was due to heart disease.
[...]
"Mrs. Lorna Sim, his wife, and two brothers, James and William, survive."

I've PM'd you.

Even with a World Wide sub I can't access those obituaries because it directs you to Newspapers.com.

Thanks for looking, Maggie.

Janet, many thanks! Dr Alexander Smith Sim did well for the son of an ag. lab. / crofter.

Yes I looked last night, always tempted to subscribe but haven't heard good reports about Newspapers.com.

Hm, this cause of death contradicts the newspaper obit which said he had a heart attack.

They've also mistranscribed his wife's name as Loma rather than Lorna and possibly his birth date as well. Not to mention the word 'Occuring' which appears as 'Accuning' - ouch.

Have you examined that gravestone pictured on Find A Grave closely enough to see the several other names and dates at its base?

I think my access to newspapers.com must have come bundled with a discounted Fold3 sub I picked up a while back.

Janet, it's hard to read the gravestone. You'd need a better image.

I can't view the Ancestry link because I don't have a worldwide subscription.

Thanks, Janet, it all ties up nicely.

I'd really like to know if his father James Sim is my great-great-grandfather or not!
