"The Weald" Sussex website to close June 2021

Sadly, The Weald (https://theweald.org/home.asp) is to close later this month due to the illness of its creator.

It has been a huge asset with so many resources for this part of Sussex, for which I am very grateful, sad to see it go.

Very sad to hear this news.

I used the website quite a bit to research, particularly OH's family from the area, when few other resources were available. I think I may have also contributed some info to it.

Is the Wayback machine still active? Maybe it would have picked up the pages and they will be stored somewhere in the ether?

I don't know, so I have been making screenshots of some relevant pages.

I tried the wayback machine website and yes, they have archives of the Weald website, so it may not be updated, but the information will be acccessible through there.

There may be hope that it may continue according to the current message on the site:

"Site update: Due to the illness of the creator and maintainer of this site he is no longer able to support it. Alternative options to continue hosting and supporting the site are currently being evaluated. Thank you to all those who have contributed to the site over the last twenty years."
