Does anyone have access to WW2 Military Police personnel records? I've just
discovered a letter from my father while serving with them in 1945.He was in the Suffolk regiment,& the letter is written on Salvation Army paper from the Provost Office, HQ Rodney St. Liverpool & dated Sept 6th 1945.
Any info or ideas gratefully accepted.

You would have to contact the Ministry of Defence.

Thanks Kite - not being penny-pinching,but don't think it would be worth the £30 fee for
what they might provide. I was hoping to be able to trace his movements, but don't think
this would help with that.

His service records, which you can apply for at the link Kite supplied, would give the units he served in, with dates. The service records wouldn't say what his units were involved in, though. War Diaries at the National Archives for the units he served with, assuming the appropriate ones have survived, would give a day by day account of what they were involved in. Bear in mind that you've probably got a year or so wait for the service records though

Thanks for that - it was his movements I was interested in. I was always told

he was in London at the time of my birth & didn't see me for some time, so

to learn he was actually in Liverpool & visited the next day was a surprise.

I know he was in the Suffolk regiment & evacuated from Dunkirk, but thats

about it.
