I can't get the Gloucestershire archives site to load at all at the moment to check whether it's listed in their online catalogue.

Brenda, That can't be Edward Holder died 1846 as it says it's wills proved 1660 - 1800. There's nothing listed on the Gloucester Archives database for Edward Holder anytime after 1800, but several before that. Where in Glos were your Holders from?

There is lots of Holder stuff listed on the Gloucestershire Archives genealogical search, including some Edward Holders, but not 1846. It doesn't list one who died in 1604 either, so I'm guessing that one listed on ancestry was a burial rather than probate. If you want to search for what Gloucestershire Archives has on its online catalogue, this is the link to the search:

Kite, I don't think that 1604 as in Book: Burialls 1604. (Burial)
indicates a date of death. I haven't worked it out yet, but I know if I search for Pitman in Gloucestershire I get around 20 coming up, all with that reference. It's just the place and number following it which change.
If you can work out what it all means I'd be interested to know!

The Gloucester Archives database that Kite linked to lists wills for five Holders in Taynton: Edward, 1613, John 1758, and 3 Roberts (1671, 1684, 1769).

Brenda, The only Holders listed in Taynton are the five I mentioned. It's easy to do your own search if you follow Kite's link. Maybe the will wasn't proved in Gloucester, in which case it won't be on their database.

The wills that are on the database are all on microfiche at the Archives, so they may be able to copy them for you, but if the wills are long it might work out quite expensive. It might be worth ringing up to check.
