I just got received an email from Ancestry about their latest records and it said there were updates on their WW1 pension ledgers and index cards. I thought I would have a look for my grandad Francis Douglas Stowell, on the off chance something new might have appeared and I found a match. I already have a his medal card but what struck me was that the result that came up just had his name and the date 1961, which certainly wasn't on his medal card and is the year h died. Would somebody be able to look at the record for me and see what it says please?
Many thanks

It's just an index on Ancestry; the images are on Fold3. You might need to wait until Fold3 has a free access weekend, unless you are eligible for a free trial (i.e. if you haven't had one before.) The transcription on Ancestry says rank Pte, number 527668, Royal Army Medical Corps, date of death 17 Oct 1961, widow Ethel Stowell.

Lynn, I have just attempted to look and it tells me "You need a Premium Membership to view this Image" - in other words, one that covers Fold3, which is a real cheek.

Thank you Janet. His pension records were obviously destroyed during the war and although it doesn't give me any new information, it is lovely to see. Thanks x
