Scotlands People, a pay per view site, but you can find out quite a bit by manipulating the free searches. Some free stuff on familysearch.

Scottish bmds are instantly downloadable on SP,(subject to modern privacy considerations) much cheaper than English certs and give more information. I managed to do many of my branches in just a few days for less than £100. Putting meat on the bones has proved difficult though and I am mostly stuck before about 1700.

Yes, I would always search first on FamilySearch and then Scotland's People.
