Can't remember whether I have asked for help with this before when it was on FMP, but anyway:
On the left-hand page, 1800 May 18 Catherine daughter of Morgan Morgans ???? & Ann his wife was baptised.
Any suggestions for the ???? bit, please?

Could it be mason?

Other than a five letter word, three consonants and two vowels, beginning with M.... lol

I looked at the other occs on that double page and on the other side, 20 Feb 1802 Margaret dau of ...... father is a mason. Now, I don't think Catherine's bap says mason, but I suppose it might! If you wanted it to say mason you would probably accept it, but I think you want it to say something else (from other threads). As I'm sure you will have done, I looked at other baptisms for potentially the same couple and only came up with servant for one, which was no help and no occupation recorded for the others.

I'm trying to think what other words fit the pattern? Miner? I'm sure it's not that...

I could never figure it out before but now I am wondering whether it could be M m and if so, could that mean Militia man? I didn't want to suggest that when I posted this thread last night because I didn't want to influence people's readings of it.

Though now everyone has suggested Mason, that does look very likely. Thanks, everyone! Guess it is a different family from mine after all.
