View Full Version : Are Ancestry still processing DNA tests?

I monitor my matches on a regular basis. While it is lovely to find new cousins, it seems wrong that laboratories should be used for leisure activities, when they might be diverted to other purposes.

A banner on the site, advising that processing would be suspended during the current crisis, so that they could use their resources to help to save lives, I'm sure would be gratefully received.

I do not appear to have had many matches, if at all, during the last two or three days - so I do wonder whether this is happening.

Does anyone know?

They are still processing them as far as I know. People have asked on Facebook whether they can still send their samples in and have been told they can. I have no idea whether their labs would be suitable for testing for Covid-19 nor whether the equipment to test for it would actually be available if they wanted to.

Thanks, Kate.

I realise that that the labs might not be suitable, and that a slow down might be due to staff members self isolating, but I did wonder whether they might be commandeered in this emergency.

Nothing has appeared on mine for awhile now - so I presumed people haven't been sending them in.

I have a new match in the "4th - 6th cousin or closer" category today so I suppose they are still processing them.

Yes I have been having 1 new 4th cousin match coming up every few days. I have had about 8 new ones over last few weeks.

I had a close one a few days ago. I knew exactly who he was so no help with new information but shared matches help sort a few previously unknown people.

I've been getting the occasional new match, but they're turning up more slowly than usual.

Thank you Kite.

But that was REALLY spooky. When I clicked on the link, it came up with my real, not my user name. There are times when I hate Ancestry.
