There was an update that allows you to search by a matches name.

So far it only works for me if I know the entire name but I read on FB some can search by a partial name.

That's great news, Toni! I will have a look later.

This isn't happening for me. Don't know whether they have switched it off or just not rolled it out to everyone yet?

I think it has been switched off. I can't get it to work today.

On FB there were mixed results or people having to reload before they got results.

I'm sure there was also a check box so ancestry know if you were looking for surnames or looking for a match but that is not there now either.

Not sure whether it isa good idea or not, but I can now no longer search private trees for surnames.

I'm related to four John Smiths!

But honestly, give me an inch and I want an ell. I want these matches for my ancestors. Not just Adams, but Urith Adams

Oh Phoenix - is one of your John Smith's born in 1853 in Newcastle upon Tyne?

We lost John and his sisters Mary and Anne both born Edinburgh 1859 and 1857 after their mother died in 1861 in Edinburgh.

Their father is in Linlithgow in 1871 but nothing after that for any of them.

Apparently some people have got the search by name of DNA match back. I would love to see it!

Lol, Julie! I have (at least) four Smith lines, but three are in Norfolk and one in Devon. These just happen to be researchers called John Smith.

If you can remember their username - a huge if with me! - then it does save scrolling endlessly down.

I recently tried out the Genetic Affairs website and generated some "auto clusters" from my ancestry matches, and I think it is going to be easier to write down the user names of the people in each cluster and then search for them than it would be to keep the full attachment open and keep clicking on the user names. So it will help there.

I have it back again!! Now who did I want to search for.

It's also a different format that the first release.
