Details of each of his or her marriages - if any -Married Laura Elizabeth Everett,October 1st 1898 London I think the Parish of Westminster St Stephens?


Occupation(s) - if any - Porter, Soldier and GPO Bagman - He also worked at Burmington Mills prior to enlisting.


Military service - if any - Enlisted in the Coldstream Guards 25th April 1890. Medically discharged 6th March 1900 London.


Addresses where they lived - and please list which censuses you have or haven't found him/her on. - 1881 Shipston on Stour Workhouse aged 9. RG11/3112 - 1891 Chelsea Barracks. RG12/66 - 1901 East Ham RG13/1601 - 1911 47 Little Ilford Lane.RG14PN9584


Date, place and cause of death - 21st September 1916 West Ham Union Infirmary - Pulmonary TB and heart failure.

Di,

have you seen the baptism for his son Albert Amos on the ancestry LMA images. Can transcribe it for you if you haven't got it.

It lists him as a Porter in 1899, before his medical discharge. No mention of any army connection

No I haven't Zoe, Albert is my Granddads brother.

Thank you if you can that would be great.

I have copies of his army papers and discharge, I got them from Alberts Grandson, my Dad's cousin, gosh it get's confusing. lol

Thanks Zoe, e mail received. I wonder if once he was out of the army they moved? I haven't done anything with this line for ages. So it will be good to get back into it.

West Ham doesn't fall under LMA as it was part of Essex then so they may have gone straight there.

Yes quite likely, he had a bit of a sad life in some respects, orphaned by 5 and put in the workhouse while his two younger sisters were put in an orphan home, he wasn't deemed suitable because he was conceived before they had been married :(

I knew nothing at all on this line when I began. I got the records for the sisters from the George Muller foundation in Bristol and they contained all the letters going between the orphanage and the parish relief quite a story....
