I have been revisiting the Tuffnell family (lots of spelling variants) and have been investigating children born to Thomas Tuffnell and his wife Martha (Ashness).
The couple lived in the Macclesfield area but the family had originally come from Hertfordshire.
This unexpected birth appears:
GRO Reference: 1856 J Quarter in BERKHAMSTEAD Volume 03A Page 304
TUFFNELL, THOMAS ASHNESS ASHNESS
I already know about this one:
TUFFNELL, THOMAS ASHNESS ASHNESS
GRO Reference: 1859 J Quarter in MACCLESFIELD Volume 08A Page 122
I decided to check on FMP and the image shows just Thomas Tuffnell (no second name of Ashness).
It has the same reference number.
How possible is it that the GRO has made a mistake?
I can't find a death for the Thomas Ashness Tuffnell born in 1856.
A Joseph and Mary Ann Tuffnell had a family in Berhamstead in the 1850s.
