When I look at my DNA matches on Ancestry today, some of the names have a blue dot against them. Does anyone know what this signifies?

It means they are new (i.e. you haven't looked at them before.)

That's odd, as I have them all on my spreadsheet I made when I started!

Have you used a third-party tool to analyse your matches, Elizabeth? If so, it could be that the third-party tool set them back to "new".

I signed up for the new Ancestry features yesterday.

I have been using GEDmatch too.

Those shouldn't affect it.

I'm seeing the blue dot against some matches which I have definitely viewed before, so I guess it is an ancestry glitch.

There seem to be a few of those at the moment!

I have totally lost the ancestry lab off the extras tab. I get a 1 next to the main screen but if I click on the lab I get an error message.

Correction: it is fixed now.

All is not well with ancestry. I just received a message in my message centre telling me to update my trees etc and I can start with a 14 day free trial blah blah. All well and good but I already have a paid sub on that account.

Someone on Facebook has a theory that the blue dot is being used to mark people who have updated their tree or linked a new tree to their DNA test.

Is it part of Ancestry's strategy to keep us all guessing? :D

That would be good if it was true. I guess the only other thing they could do is make updated dots a dark blue.

I have just discovered that I can change status to unread, and so get that blue dot back.
