I suppose the obvious way to find out which church he was baptised at would be to go to the Suffolk Record Office and look through the PR's for various churches, starting with the most likely, but it would be rather a long trip for you!

lol!!

I rather doubted that I'd be able to find out on line. :(

Never mind - that's the great thing with this hobby - It will keep until I have the time...

Just checked FreeReg, not on there. I suppose the obvious place would be Beccles, the church looks like it's St Michael's.

Have you tried emailing the County Record Office Sarah?

You have a date, wouldn't take much looking up.

There used to be a furniture shop in Hitchin called Wallace King, when I first lived here in the 1980s. Can't remember when it closed. It's now Clement Joselyne, very expensive and opposite is a 9 TP shop!

ooo - I just googled - there are two 'Wallace King Interiors' in Norwich and one in Cambridge. I'm guessing the Hitchin one was related too.

Thanks Nell.

His sons took over when he died in 1949

We bought some furniture (Ladderax) from Wallace King in Hitchin in the early 1970's. I sold most of it recently (2 houses later, it didn't fit the room) but still have one bay.
