The images are on Fold3 (grr) but the transcriptions on ancestry do include quite a bit of information.

Tip - a lot of people are listed by initials rather then full first name.

If you are able to visit an LDS Family History Centre, they have free access to Fold3, among other things.

There will no doubt be the usual moans on Ancestry's Facebook page and elsewhere about the images being on Fold3 and not Ancestry itself, but as the records are from the National Archives the fact they are on Fold3 has obviously been done with their agreement in spite of all the earlier complaints I understand that were directed at the NA about such developments. I suspect some of the problem is that Ancestry would probably like to put up the subscription costs because of all the additional records but daren't because of the uproar it would cause so are using Fold3 for military records as the excuse is that not everyone is interested in them. Don't get me wrong, there is a bit of a cheek about it but I can see why they are doing it if that is the reason.

Found my uncle but it only mentions one of the camps he was in.
Also only his initials not his full name.

I was going to add that access to Fold3 Commonwealth (including UK) military records is free at the moment, so it's a good time to view these prisoner of war records, but it is coming up with a message "You need a Premium Membership to view this image." I don't know whether that means this database isn't included in the free access, or that the free access isn't working properly (wouldn't surprise me in the least!) It is letting me view other databases.

Yes, I just posted the same thing on the Fold3 thread. I'll try again later to see if it works.
