I'm looking at my 5g grandmother, Lucy Barratt.

She married Ralph Clarke in 1796 at Stoke on Trent, Staffs.

I was looking to take her line further back. Her marriage gives nothing away, except she was a spinster.

Searching FMP baptisms there is only one Lucy Barret baptised - 1770 at Maer, father Thomas. This also matches familysearch.org in there is only one Lucy in Staffordshire.

Approximate date of birth taken from the burial in 1824 (Lacey Clerk).

Can I take this as my Lucy or is there some other way to help confirm it?

Make sure there isn't a Lucy Barret burial matching with the baptism, see if there are any other Lucy Barret marriages, look for wills that might mention her.

Will do Kate. There wont be any wills, they seem too poor, but I'll double check the others.

Thanks

For future reference there are no burials or other marriages that could be the Lucy Barratt from Maer, not that I've found so far.

I read the heading and thought you were talking about kids. I often wondered how many I had when there were a few extras at dinner time......lol

haha Libby. I did have an adopted daughter or 2 for the first term of school, between 8.30am and 9am but they seem to be coping with drop off now and Mum doesn't need rescuing.

You would not believe what can be achieved with stickers.
