Annie Mary Billyard (my great aunt) was born in Walesby, Nottinghamshire in the summer of 1882 and registered in Southwell District in the September Quarter of that year.

Name: Annie Mary Billyard
Registration Year: 1882
Registration Quarter: Jul-Aug-Sep
Registration district: Southwell
Parishes for this Registration District: View Ecclesiastical Parishes associated with this Registration District
Inferred County: Nottinghamshire
Volume: 7b
Page: 406

I have her on the 1891 census, at home in Walesby, but the family is often hideously mistranscribed, so I am not surprised I can't find her on the others.I have her marriage to William Dawson in the September Quarter of 1916 and the birth of her daughter Irene the following year. Finally, I have her death in September 1960 in Bingham, Nottinghamshire at the age of 77.

Name: Annie M Dawson
Death Age: 77
Birth Date: abt 1883
Registration Date: Sep 1960
Registration district: Bingham
Inferred County: Nottinghamshire
Volume: 3c
Page: 76

However, to tie up a loose end, I can't find her on the 1939 Register. Annie was a war widow, who stayed at home with her child and her father. Her father, Samuel, died in 1933 and I realise I have no idea where Annie was between then and the late 1950s when she went to live with Irene and her family in Bingham, where she died.

Would anyone else like to have a go? Thanks.

It's another one of those where it's hard to find someone on the 1939 Register without their exact date of birth. I haven't found anything likely so far.

This is her on the 1911 census but I had to log out of ancestry to find her:

And this is her in 1901; again, I could only find her by logging out:

Yes, that's the right Irene, Phoenix. Annoyingly, she had left home by 1939.

Thanks for the census entries. Looking now.

NB Samuel and his wife Annie had five living children in 1911 ...

EDIT - no they didn't. A proper look at birth dates reveals that Henrietta was born before the marriage and appears to have been registered as Henrietta Fletcher. Certificate ordered and apologies to Samuel, who did know how many children he had.

And this is her in 1901; again, I could only find her by logging out:

I didn't have to log out for that or the 1911, but still other databases are not included in my results without logging out.

If you have an FMP sub, you could search for her in the England & Wales Electoral Registers 1832-1932.

I've had a quick look at the electoral rolls on FMP; Annie was still in Walesby in 1928 and 1929, but she wasn't there after that, and there are quite a few Annie Dawsons in the rest of Notts. (The ERs only go up to 1931-32, though.)

Her husband didn't have a relative called Blanche, born c. 1894 did he? There's a widowed Annie Dawson of about the right age in Basford in 1939 with a Blanche Dawson.

Don't tell me that's not working either! First I got "Oops, we are having trouble getting those results". Then it said 21 hits but none showing in the results list

It worked OK for me this afternoon.

I spent ages trying to connect Blanche with William Dawson from Kirkby Lonsdale in Westmorland! I gave up eventually!

Annie and Blanche don't look right I'm afraid. Annie's DOB is down as 17 February 1875, which is a bit too far out for my liking and Blanche appears to come from Apperley Bridge in Yorkshire.

That's not the same Annie and Blanche. Annie's dob (the one I was looking at) in 1939 was 26 Jun 1883 and living in Basford. Blanche was b 1894 and was prob originally from Norfolk!

I can't find the Annie you saw!!

lol my fault - I must have not looked at the page, only the fmp transcript which has the fictitious 1883 dob for Annie!

26 Jun 1883 belongs to the person after Blanche not before.

FMP, for which I don't have a sub, is showing me a Mary A Dawson born in 1882 at an address in Southwell RD. I need to rule this one out, but can't see any details on Ancestry because her entry is obscured by a redaction.

Any suggestions?

PDF has just dropped into my Inbox.

Annie Mary Billyard was born 15 September 1882, so this looks like her, although I suppose I'll have to do another search, just to be sure.
