Family tree maker 2017 upgrade 50% off offer

I’ve had an email offering 50% off the 2017 upgrade for 5 days only.

What do people think of the 2017? Pros and cons.

I got one too but didn't see the price.

I think it has more features than the last one

It is useful to be able to keep both ancestry and ftm the same but whether it is worth the price I don't know.

I'm not surprised they're offering a discount again, even for a short period, its rather expensive compared to alternatives such as Roots Magic which allows manually syncing with Ancestry and especially compared to what you used to get for similar money from Ancestry directly, namely so many months free access.

Can't comment on how good it is as I stopped using FTM in 2013 and moved to Family Historian. As my research is and always has been stored offline (apart from a tree I host for a friend, hence having RM to sync), the added functionality isn't of any real use, but I did find 2012 very slow and bloated. Whether that's improved with the new version I don't know.
