Roger Williams of Grays Inn, London made his will on 10th October 1722 and probate was granted on 29th November 1722, so he died in either October or November 1722.

I haven't been able to find his burial, so if anyone comes across it I would be very grateful!

Any idea why the three witnesses to the will are all of Bristol? Didn't know if that was a clue?!

I had forgotten about that, Merry. Perhaps he was working there for a case?

I had been looking mainly in London but as I couldn't find him it did occur to me he might have died and been buried elsewhere.

I presume Frances, probate 19 Jul 1714, was his first wife? Any clues in her will? (it's too long for me to read now! lol)

Yes, his first wife. I have transcribed most of it - it is very long, as you say.

She came from Shropshire:

Her mother Sarah, widow of Francis Jenkes, became the second wife of her husband Roger's father John, Bishop of Chichester.

His will says "Directions for my Buriall as to the place where and the manner of it are in my Serentore(?) at Wanstead". If only he had had them copied into his will! He doesn't seem to have been buried at Wanstead - I suppose that would be too obvious.

Serentore(?) at Wanstead

I spent ages trying to decide what that first word was and made Hanstead out of Wanstead.

I think the word is "scrutore" (like escritoire).

I started researching Roger Williams a year or so back and had forgotten some of the details of his will. I wonder if he had more than one residence?
