I can find Joseph Senior, malster in the 1861 Census at Thornhill, Yorkshire,
age 63 born Batley and Rebecca born C 1800 Ossett.

There is a marriage at Dewsbury, Yorkshire 8/2/1821 of Joseph Senior butcher and Rebecca Berry.

Joseph's daughter Mary Ann married in 1844 at Thornhill and said her father was a malster.

In the census after married James Sheard, she consistently said she was born in Horburry C 1824, except in 1861, James and Mary Ann Sheard were living at North Meols Lancs, Mary Ann age 37 born Nether Sitlington? and also her brother? Edward Senior 33 born Nether Sitlington.

Dewsbury, All Saints has baptism 1824 or Mary Ann Senior, parents Joseph & Rebecca, residence Ossett, he is a butcher.

Can anyone find Joseph and Rebecca Senior in the 1841 and 1851 Census.
There are lots of Joseph Seniors. I would like to be sure the butcher and the malster are the same person. Thanks Julie

Thanks again Jay.
I found on FS burials at Thornhill, Yorks
Rebecca 18/12/1863 age 63 (born 21/7/1800 - Fr. Thomas).

Joseph buried 20/8/1868, born 1797, which ties in with a baptism at Batley 20/8/1797 - parents Joseph and Hannah.

I found a marriage in 1791 for Joseph and Hannah Stott, but there don't appear to be any children between 1791 and 1797, which makes me question whether they are his parents.

Joseph Senior & Hannah Stott are the parent of Joseph baptised in 1797.

Bapt 13/8/1797 Joseph son of Joseph Senior, carpenter, son of Emmanual, by his wife Hannah, daughter of Wm Stott, born 29 July, Bat.

Wow Jay what a brilliant find and amazing minister ..
It would make tracing family so much easier if they all gave that sort of pedigree..
Thank you. Julie

There is a will for Joseph Senior of Horbury Bridge in ****lington in York, but late of Southport Lancs - Malster - died 18/8/1868 at Southport, Lancs, proved by Wiliam Thomas Senior of Lowhaith Grange Ardsley near Barnsley in York, farmer, son, executor. Another will to acquire.
Mary Ann Sheard, nee Senior and her family were living at Southport, Lancs in the 1860s. She gave birth to a son in 1864, who they named Theodore Senior Sheard. Theodore in turn named his second son Geoffrey Senior Sheard and so the name was carried on.
(Please note Sitlington originally had a "h" in it. I was not using offensive language.)
