My newly found 6x-great-grandfather Charles Vercoe is described as a Drullar in his will.

Luckily, the CRO kindly offers an explanation:

AP Archdeaconry of Cornwall, Probate Court
AP/V Wills, Letter V
RefNo AP/V/495
Title Will of Charles Vercoe, drullar, of Feock
Date 1753
Extent 1 piece
Description Will. Drullar is a story teller.

I had never heard of this before.

Now I am wondering how Charles made a living from telling stories. It has piqued my curiosity!

Sounds like a Bard.

Yes, that's what I thought, Toni. I might email the Cornwall Record Office to ask what information they have about drullars and their connection with the Druids.

Please keep us updated. That sounds interesting.

When I first saw this post I thought, ooh, that's a similar sounding word to Droullah, which is a story teller.

No it isn't. Apparently I have completely made up that word and its meaning!
