In an effort to distract from my life of woe, I'm focussing on some research.

I seem to have misplaced Edward, son of William Cooper Webb &

Elizabeth, nee Mills.

I have a note that he was the same age as sister Caroline Amelia b 1826, so

possibly a twin, but need to find his actual birth if possible.

Sorry, Folks - should have added the family was resident at Goswell Street,

Clerkenwell & William was a tobacconist and wholesale milliner.

Hmm.

Is that note from an 1841 census entry? If so, he might not be a twin.

Yes, they're both 15 on the 1841 census but ages were rounded down on that one.

I know you've seen this before, but Caroline Amelia Webb married James Laming Lyons 17 Oct 1843 at St Giles without Cripplegate, and she is down as full age on the marriage cert though of course might not be true:

If it is true then she was quite a bit older than 15 in 1841 and Edward could well be younger than her. I don't think we ever found baptisms for either of them last time we looked.

OK folks - that explains my cryptic note. Didn't realise they were rounded down on that

one.

Caroline Amelia Lyons died in North Sydney, Australia, 1 Jun 1912, and her age at death is given as 91 in the newspaper death notice, which if accurate would mean she was born about 1821:

If you want to find out more, her Australian death cert will give her age, birthplace, parents' names and husband's and children's names, plus the length of time she'd been in Australia.

The death index gives her parents' names as William C and Elizabeth:

From the birth index it looks as though they had several children born in NSW between 1849 and 1861:

The youngest, Lydia, married in Brisbane, Queensland in 1897:

thanks for info Mary. I did make contact a couple of years ago with a Laming Lyons

descendant but he hasn't kept in touch.

Well, this is weird! I'm going through my ancestry DNA matches at the moment, working through those who have Bristows in their tree, and a possible 5th - 8th cousin's tree has James Laming Lyons and Caroline Amelia Webb in it! They are direct ancestors of my possible relative. I haven't figured out whether I am actually related to this person or not yet, though.

Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs! I'm sure you know the story of Caroline's father & my

my 2xg grandmother Harriett. Could this possibly be a route to finding out once & for all if

I am descended from him? I was in touch with one of the Australian contingent but they

haven't maintained contact.

I suppose it could, Vita, if you want to pay for an ancestry DNA test. If you want to know the username involved, let me know and I will PM it to you.

Yes please, Kite - could you PM me? Thanks.
