A few years ago I started to write a few words about my background just in case my children might be interested in reading about how their father grew up during the Second World War. I then found an article written by John Torode one time of the Guardian regarding something he was writing on his father and it appeared that he was able to access security files that had been released.
I am not technically competent enough to do what Torode did so I'm looking for professional that could do it for me and obviously I'm prepared to pay.

Are these files held by the National Archives (TNA), do you know, BML?

Apparently so. According to the Torode article:

My father was a Soviet agent. MI5 says so. Decades after his death, the spooks have finally released his security file to the National Archives.

I learnt that the file had been released because the National Archives placed a one-paragraph “description” of it on their website.

So you need to search for your father's name here:

With the greatest respect I am looking for someone capable of doing the work I described above. Surely there must be someone within the ranks of this organisation who would accept such a brief.

You can PM me the details if you like and I will see if I can find it in TNA's online catalogue and if I find it, I would give you info on how to order a copy.

Or if you definitely want to pay a researcher to do it, TNA has a list of independent researchers that you can select from:
