What I know for sure about my 4g-grandmother Jane Palmer:

- married Samuel Berry 9th November 1797, Lubenham, Leicestershire
- son John Berry born 1799, Lubenham
- daughter Jane Berry born 1803, Lubenham
- daughter Mary Berry born 1806, Lubenham
- died 28th October 1831, Lubenham

My Ancestry "hints" are now showing me a baptism record for Jane Palmer on 7th December 1770, in Little Dalby, Leicestershire, parents Edward and Comfort Palmer (there is a corresponding marriage of Edward Palmer and Comfort Dalby, 11th January 1765, St Margaret, Leicester). Little Dalby is sufficiently close to Lubenham to make it plausible that this is the same person, but sufficiently far (~20 miles) not to be completely certain. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Witnesses to the Samuel Berry / Jane Palmer marriage were William Williamson and Thos Eldridge, but Thos Eldridge is on all the marriages, so we can ignore him.

Also, you probably have your Jane's age at death already, but if not, her burial record says 63 years. Of course it might not be accurate.

Looking at a map, Lubenham is right on the boundary with Northamptonshire, so we might need to look there too.

There is a Jane Palmer baptised 1769 at Melton Mowbray, daughter of John and Ann, but that's not very close to Lubenham.

And one baptised 6 Nov 1768, daughter of Richard and Jane:

FMP gives the parish as "Langtons". There are various villages whose names end in Langton, just near Market Harborough (as is Lubenham), and together they make up the Langtons. So that one looks more likely.

There is a Jane Palmer buried at Langtons 13 Sep 1784 but that could be Jane sr.

Thanks Kite - I see the same record appears twice on FMP, with the second specifying Tur Langton. As you say, that looks likely, and if there's a burial corresponding to the Little Dalby one at least I can be sure it isn't that one!

There's a marriage of Richard Palmer to Jane Waters, both of the chapelry of Tur Langton (I presume a chapelry was a subdivision of a parish?), 11th October 1767. One of the witnesses was Thomas Berry, but he was a serial witness so that doesn't prove any connection to a Berry family.
