I have the HODGES family on the USA 1930 census in Winslow, Jefferson, Pennsylvania,
John age 48
Mary A age 50
Thomas J age 22
Goldie R age 12

On the 1910 census their surname is written as HODGE.

I have found, (all on Ancestry)

1) A marriage registration for John HODGES and Mary Ann MITCHELL (she’s from my family ) in March 1907

2) Thomas’s birth registration born 17th July 1907 and certificate dated 23rd July 1907 with name as Thomas HODGE.

3) A correction giving name and surname as Thomas James HODGES dated 9th January 1943 and signed by father John HODGES. Possibly corrected for joining the armed forces?

4) I have Thomas’s military draft card details. Basic details as it’s on FOLD 3 and I don’t have access to see if there’s more.
Name: Thomas James Hodges
Birth Place: Rathmel Jefferson, Pennsylvania, USA
Birth Date: 17 Jul 1907
Residence: Falls Creek, Jefferson, Pennsylvania, USA
Registration Date: 1940
Next of Kin: Dora Glaydean Hodges
Relationship to Draftee: Wife

5) I have Thomas, Dora and daughter name removed age 3 years on the 1940 census in Washington, Jefferson, Pennsylvania. It states Thomas and Dora had been married 3 years

6) I have found a U.S. City Directories, 1822-1995 in
1955 at Du Bois, Pennsylvania, , listing Thomas J, Dora G and name removed.
I cannot find a marriage for Thomas, anything else about his wife or daughter nor his sister Goldie.

Thomas died in February 1978

Any help or fresh ideas where to look would be appreciated.

I've removed the daughter's name from your post in case she is still alive, Daphne. If we find a death for her we can put her name back in.

This is the family in 1920 but Goldie isn't with them (she should be about 2.)

This is John in 1940, a widower, and Goldie isn't with him.

Thanks Merry and Kate, I really appreciate what you've found.
John was a widow in 1940 as Mary Ann died in 1932. I have a copy of her death registration and a photo of her grave. All of my paternal grandfather's siblings settled in the Winslow and Reynoldville areas but some seem to have been easy to trace through newspapers as well as records, I'm in contact to some of the family but I think they are all as puzzled with this branch as I have been.
