View Full Version : Jane Grey or Rhoda Grey??
1884 Wandsworth - Thomas Augustin Ryan married either Janet Rosa Cadogan or Jane Lawrie Grey.
But on Census his wife is called Rhoda, born c 1865 Falmouth.
I checked a couple of his sons on the GRO index and their mother's maiden name is Grey, and there is also a Rhoda Grey born 1863 Falmouth.
Their daughter is called Kate Lawrie Ryan and (blow me down with a feather) Rhoda has a sister called Jane Lowry Grey, born 1859 Falmouth.
???? Totally confused .........!
(I thought maybe Jane had died and Thomas had then shacked up with her sister, but I can't see a death for Jane)

He could have shacked up with Rhoda even without Jane dying. I have one like that in my tree.

Hmm, there is a "B" for bachelor next to his name.
That's what I'm thinking. He married Jane .......... and within a few years, he had dumped her, or vice versa and her sister had taken her place.
In which case, I should be able to find Jane.
