Here's one to keep us busy! Though I rather suspect it's just a red herring.

Here is the 1841 census entry for "Henry Pall", who is actually the Revd Henry Andrew Paull:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interactive/8978/MDXCHO107_675_676-0013/16445788?backurl=https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/7697047/person/6113329627/facts
Foley Place, St Marylebone
Henry Pall 40 M & Schoolmaster No
Maria Do 40 No
Children Andrew 18, Richard 14, Eleanor 11, Maria 9, James 6, and Albert 6 months.

And this is his marriage to Maria Beams, spinster, 18 Mar 1819 at St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interactive/1623/31280_199020-00353/4167611?backurl=https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/7697047/person/6113329627/facts Henry is a bachelor, and the witnesses are Thomas Smart and John Wheeler.

Maria Paull dies Oct-Dec 1843 Marylebone, age 47.

Henry then marries Ann Harwood, widow, full age, daughter of Thomas Snape (deceased) on the 18th Apr 1844 at St Mary Newington. Witnesses Joseph Irons and W Williams.

In 1851 Henry is "uncle" of my 4xg-aunt, Frances Lucey, at 12 Lant Street, Southwark:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interactive/8860/SRYHO107_1563_1564-0274/1915713?backurl=https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/19209336/person/770727184/facts/citation/820384285190/edit/record
Does everyone agree that it says "Uncle"? Any other readings of it?

He is down as Curate of St George's. He is 49, married, born Devon Plymouth, but other censuses have his birthplace as Devon Plymstock, or Cornwall.

He then goes on to become vicar of East Wickham, Kent, and is lodger or boarder there on the 1861 - 1881 censuses, married in 1861 and then widowed. He dies Jan-Mar 1883 Dartford district, age 82.

I haven't traced Ann yet.

But, my question is how is he Frances's uncle? She was born 5 Aug 1795 in Bermondsey, the daughter of Thomas Lucey 1758-1814 and his wife Elizabeth, about 1759 to 1821, whose marriage I have never found for sure but must have been in or before 1785. Here is a link to Frances on my ancestry tree:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/19209336/person/770727184/facts

Any ideas? Or is "uncle" a mistake?

Not sure if you have Henry Paul's baptism in Plymstock, 1801 https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=gbprs%2fb%2f31370178%2f1&fulfillmentTypeKey=1350

Parents Henry and Elizabeth, this may be their marriage, Henry Paul and Elizabeth Williams https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=gbprs%2fm%2f35009647%2f1

I have seen that marriage before, Elizabeth, but don't know whether it's the right one. Thanks.

And thanks, Sue. There is a public tree on ancestry which has that as Henry's parents' marriage.

Henry's second wife. Ann, died 17 Aug 1868 in Surbiton (FMP newspapers). Her death reg in Kingston district says she was aged 73, so possibly born about 1795.

So Ann is likely Anne Snape born 3 Sep 1795, baptised 18 Mar 1796 St Luke Old Street, Finsbury, parents Thomas and Mary. (From FamilySearch.)

Witnesses Thomas Snape and Elizabeth Snape. Charles is a widower.

I think this is Ann's parents' marriage:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interactive/1623/31280_194822-00458/2149288?backurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.co.uk %2fcgi-bin%2fsse.dll%3f_phsrc%3dCzj8565%26_phstart%3dsucc essSource%26usePUBJs%3dtrue%26db%3dlmamarriages%26 so%3d2%26pcat%3dROOT_CATEGORY%26gss%3dangs-g%26new%3d1%26rank%3d1%26MS_AdvCB%3d1%26gsfn%3dtho *%26gsfn_x%3d1%26gsln%3dsnap*%26gsln_x%3d1%26msgdy %3d1792%26msgdy_x%3d1%26cpxt%3d1%26cp%3d11%26catbu cket%3drstp%26MSAV%3d2%26MSV%3d1%26uidh%3dvm5&backlabel=ReturnSearchResults

Thomas Snape, bachelor, and Mary Smith, spinster, 16 Jan 1792 at St Mary, Whitechapel.

So if that's right, Ann can't be a half-sister or stepsister of either of Frances Lucey's parents.

And the ancestry tree has Henry's first wife, Maria, as the daughter of Hugh Beams 1764-1815 and Ann Whaley 1768-1832, which I think would also rule her out as a half-sister or stepsister of one of Frances' parents.

I wonder whether I should get Henry's will. I should think it's unlikely to mention any of the Lucey family.
