Catherine married Peter Bowers in Titchfield, Hants 23 Jan 1797.
Their children were Mary, Peter, Ann, John, William and Richard, whose birth presumably caused Catherine's death, in April 1810.

The most feasible candidate for Catherine is the daughter of Edward Cousins and Catherine Covey. bp 20 April 1767 in nearby Fareham:

This would make Catherine Cossens 7 years older than her spouse. However, they had to get married.

My chief worry is that the Coveys seem fairly wealthy, Catherine Covey marries by licence, and Catherine Cossen's children are labouring folk.

This has always niggled. Can anyone plausibly marry/kill off, or otherwise dispose of Catherine Covey's daughter?

I might add that I originally did the research pre internet, but found no better solution.

Do you have the marriage witnesses' names, Phoenix?

I haven't got an FMP sub, but their free search brings up a Kathrine Couzens burial at Fareham in 1771. Have you already looked at that one?

Fairly sure I don't have witnesses names - I extracted the Bowers stuff over 30 years ago.
When Catherine Covey married, a witness was Stephen FITCHETT, her brother in law.

I think the Kathrine Couzens burial is Catherine nee Covey. She had three daughters: Elizabeth, Catherine, and Ann bp 1769.

It looks as if Edward remarried in 1772:

Do you know for sure that the Catherine Bowars who was buried in 1810 at Titchfield was Peter's wife? There is also a Catherine Bowers buried there in 1833, age 61, according to the Hampshire Burials index on FMP.

I have a burial date for Richard of 15 April 1810, and for Catherine 18 April 1810. When I get back home, I'll see if I have any more for Richard's death in particular.

I'll also need to check, but I think that Peter remarried. It gets complicated as there are several men of the same name in the parish.

This is him in 1841: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interactive/8978/HAMHO107_389_391-0350/4980887?backurl=https%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.co.u k%2fcgi-bin%2fsse.dll%3f_phsrc%3dhQY8189%26_phstart%3dsucc essSource%26usePUBJs%3dtrue%26db%3duki1841%26so%3d 2%26pcat%3dROOT_CATEGORY%26gss%3dangs-g%26new%3d1%26rank%3d1%26msT%3d1%26MS_AdvCB%3d1%26 gsfn%3dpeter%26gsfn_x%3dNN%26gsln%3dbower%26gsln_x %3dNN%26msypn__ftp%3dhampshire%26msypn__ftp_x%3d1% 26cpxt%3d1%26cp%3d4%26catbucket%3dr%26MSAV%3d2%26M SV%3d1%26uidh%3d9vh&ssrc=&backlabel=ReturnSearchResults

I don't think you had to be rich to marry by licence. You could be in a hurry or one of you could be from another parish or you might want to marry in a church outside your own parish. No money changed hands unless the licence proved to be wrongly issued.

This, I think, is the Catherine who died:

https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=s2%2fgbprs%2fportsmouth%2f008064650%2f00 077&parentid=gbprs%2fportsmouth%2fmar%2f00097433%2f1&highlights=%22%22

She married James Bower 24 December 1797.

She and James were in trouble in a case of defamation in the 1820s.

(I went home on Thursday, doubting my entire Bowers line!)

The Catherine who died when, Phoenix? In 1833?

Yes, the 1833 one. She and James had a daughter baptised in 1798.
