I have come across a marriage for a George Landison to an Elizabeth Smith
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N6X2-DFK
It is in ancestry, and find my past, but doesn't give any details other than the wedding took place 25th December 1873 at St Mary's, Lambeth, they were both single, his father was John Landison and hers was Joseph Smith.

I am going round in circles trying to find out anything else about George Landison but have failed miserably! Can anyone find a birth for him or even the couple in 1881, please?

This is the marriage record on ancestry:

It's not very clear whether his surname is Landison or Sandison, but is indexed as Sandison on FreeBMD.

And it does give more information - his occupation is French Polisher, his abode High Street, and his father's occupation is Clicker.

So this must be the family in 1871 and their surname is Sandison:

George Sandison's birth was registered Oct-Dec 1845 Westminster, vol 1, p 407, MMN Andrews.

This is George and Elizabeth in 1881 but he has got his birthplace wrong:

I should think that Annie and Mary A are daughter and sister of Elizabeth Maule rather than of George Sandison.

Thank you very much, Kite, that is very helpful. I should have thought of his name starting with an S instead of an L.

Mystery solved. :)
