My daughter found this image of the shop fronts of these two. Robert Heath, hatter, was father-in-law to Arthur William Dear.

The detail is amazing. I have enlarged the image and you can clearly see the first floor and mention of Robert Heath's wife, Jane. She was born Jane Jeffcoat and was the sister of my 2x-great-grandmother Eliza Jeffcoat. Jane was hatter to the Queen.

The shops were in Knightsbridge. My daughter travels past every day on the bus to and from the V&A. At the moment the whole block is a construction site and she fears they might have been demolished. It's hard to tell at present.

Robert Heath's father was also a hat manufacturer, and he was based at Oxford Street. His premises can still be seen today:

You can still see the beavers, too!

Lindsay, I only discovered about the beavers recently. They are a lovely detail.
