Hello!

This is the will of my suspected relative William Bolton of Evesham. About halfway down the page is the married name of William's sister, Alice. I'm not sure what it is. Either Pearne or Barne is what I've come up with so far, but I haven't identified a James Pearne or Barne in Norton at that time.

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks. :)

Edit: sorry for the bluriness of the top image: I scanned it using a scanner app and it uploaded to imgur that way.

You had two very similar threads here, rainbow dragon, so I have deleted the other one.

It would be easier if the images weren't rotated! Looks like Pearce to me.

Yes, I'm sorry about that. :o

It was my first time scanning something. I'll try to make a better image later.

And thanks for your help. :)

Thanks :)

I'll follow up on that and see what I come up with.

James Pearce is said to be of Norton in that will. There's a James and Alice Pearce buried at Norton and Lenchwick (3 miles from Evesham) 1715 and 1712 respectively. There is also a probate entry for a Jacob in 1715 for the same parish, but no burial in that name. I did wonder if Jacob should read James (or maybe the burial should read Jacob!! lol).

Jacobus is the Latin for James so could well be.

Thanks very much, everyone. :)

This brickwall is quite stubborn, and I'm following any and all clues, no matter how remote. :D
