Richard is my 4g grandfather and he was born about 1799 in Yorkshire.

He had 9 children with Hannah between 1821 to 1837. Hannah was born about 1801 in Etruria or Shelton, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire according to the census.

Children are Sarah 1821, Mary and Emma 1826, Lucy 1827, Hannah and John 1828, Helen or Ellen 1831, Benjamin 1835 and George 1837. (dates from familysearch or census) (unknown if the doubles are twins or baptised on the same date but it looks like twins from census dates)

I have been unable to find a definite marriage for Richard and Hannah. I have found one for Richard Eastwood and Hannah Clarke on 30/10/1820 at Stoke on Trent, St Peter Ad Vincula.

Do you think it is likely he married in Staffordshire given his wife was born there or that he married in Yorkshire and moved before the first child was born?

What was Richard's occupation?

The image for the 1820 Stoke on Trent marriage is on FMP. It states that this Richard was a millwright.

He was an engineer in 1841, a millwright in 1851 and back to an engineer in 1861.

So it looks like it is him.

Thanks Eliza, I'm so tired I didn't think to check the occupation.

So my next question is who are Hannah's parents? haha

According to Pallot's Marriage index, Ralph Clark married Lucy Barratt in 1796 at Stoke on Trent. Not found on FMP.

Thanks for that. I saw the Ralph/Lucy parents and liked it as it was the same church but wasn't sure. Lucy, Sarah and Mary do feature down the line though, so it is very likely. No Ralph's though.

I stumbled on a marriage for Richard and Hannah's daughter, Mary so spent last night following that instead. Mary seems to misplace husbands so I'm trying to find where they went or died.
