View Full Version : Adding comments to records in ancestry databases

I have only just noticed this, so I assume it's new? When viewing records in various databases on ancestry, there is a box on the right hand side of the screen which says "Write a comment", and if you enter a comment, it is then displayed next to the record. If you search for Alexander Cedric R W Bristow on the 1911 census hopefully it is displaying a comment which I posted? I would be interested to have it confirmed that is the case.

Don't know if there is any way to search for comments yet but it's good to be able to post them, anyway. (I had been hoping for the facility to tag records with a tag search facility added.)

Has anyone seen an announcement about the comments system?

It is showing your comment "The writer Alec Bristow".

I have never noticed this before.

Thanks, Elizabeth.

I did try googling to see if I could find info about it but only came up with how to add a comment to a record in a tree.

Thanks for this, I can see it would be useful. I've not heard of it before and I always read ancestry emails.

I've just checked back to the only comment I've ever left on a record, it was 6 years ago on a birth record. It just notes that I know the family (no names mentioned) who fostered and loved the child born in 1959 before she went for adoption.
