My 7x-great-grandmother Sarah Eaton was buried at Grendon, Northamptonshire in 1680. Can anyone read the month of burial, please?

No, I can't read that - not entirely sure the month is there!

Might she have had a memorial? Have you got this booklet?

Merry, Ancestry have transcribed the month as August, but I didn't mention it as I didn't want to influence anyone!

There appears to be some writing above "buried" and "30th".

I hadn't seen the booklet - many thanks! I'm off to have a look.

You have to register and provide your credit card details even for a free 3 day trial, so I won't bother.

I doubt there is anything for that long ago.

It is available for £2 from Northants FHS.

I didn't know if they were important enough to have a memorial inside the church? (so potentially undamaged)

I agree that there is something written above/after 'buried', but I don't know what. Above 30 it looks like 'th', but I don't see why that would be the case when none of the other dates have it.

I hadn't thought of that, Merry. I might buy the booklet from the FHS.

Several of the other dates on the page do have "th" above or near the date. I can't figure out what the month is supposed to be. Shame they didn't write it in that big space on the right!

Jess, that is such a kind offer. As it is so long ago and in the scheme of things it's not that important, please don't worry. I have downloaded the image for the burial and I know her year of burial at least.
