My Alexander line hails from Avebury in Wiltshire.

With the help of FMP and now the images on Ancestry I'm trying to piece together this line.

There is a burial of a Walter Alexander in 1711, and a baby named Walter was baptised to Thomas and Elizabeth Alexander in 1718.

I did a search on any Walter Alexanders from Avebury and found the following:

https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=DrMyGQGmwmoC&pg=PA419&lpg=PA419&dq=%22Walter+Alexander%22+and+%22Wiltshire%22&source=bl&ots=Ht66Oj59Od&sig=-nl87_SWquvuCc-b1bsHhUXdl2E&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi2hsOuzZDUAhUFJMAKHXRkC5UQ6AEIPjAG#v=on epage&q=%22Walter%20Alexander%22%20and%20%22Wiltshire%22&f=false

Unfortunately, this source doesn't give a date for the burial, which would have been helpful!

The PRs for Avebury are in a dreadful state before 1700 so I need all the help I can get.

I would say look at note 81 for chapter 18, but a lot of the "notes" pages are not shown in that preview and I can't tell whether that particular note is shown or not.

There is another Walter Alexander burial at Avebury, 24 Oct 1713:

Ah, here's the story in another book and it says the February after Richard Bayly's burial, so it must be the 19 Feb 1710/11 Walter Alexander burial (Richard Bayly is a few entries before him.)

I've been searching for note 81, Kate!

Oooh, thanks!

I wish I could work out a relationship between him and Thomas Alexander who married an Elizabeth c.1701.

Thanks for the other burial, Kate. I have downloaded the image but I am in the process of renaming them.

There was a page in the early PRs of dissenters. I'll post it when I can find it.

Here is a Walter Alixander of Avebury (well, Abeuavy, but it has been indexed as Avebury, in the "Wiltshire, England, Marriages" transcriptions) marrying Luce Harbert, also of Avebury 19 Aug 1706 at Marlborough:

Ooh, well spotted!

I will have to research this more closely tomorrow.
