I have been looking at a Wilkins family from Writhlington near Frome Somerset.
Ancestry is suggesting deaths for Albert born 1866, Theodore 1869, Thomas born 1851, Oliver 1861 and Luther 1864 all born in Somerset in Clay Indiana. I wonder if any one can find out more? Parents were James Wilkins and Sarah Chivers but I don't think they went to America.

I typed Luther Wilkins into Family Search, b 1860-1868 in England, residence United States and a few census records appeared for him and his family living in Clay, Indiana.

I tried Oliver next and got similar census results plus his passenger record on a ship named Cornwall in 1883.

Hi Anne,

The Indiana death certificates are online and I've checked Theodore's and it does confirm his parents as James Wilkins & Sarah Chivers, born England. Would you like me to download the images for you and email (if you are happy to PM your email address?).

Yes please. I don't have world ancestry or find my past. Thank goodness for unusual christian names. I have just been following Egbert Wilkins son of another brother Israel who stayed in England. I was going to be good this weekend and only look for records in commonwealth countries and I had my hunch that this family had gone awol just not to Canada or Australia.

I've emailed all five to you Anne. Plenty of information on them all :)

Rare names do help things so much more.
