The release of the RC records on FMP threw up baptisms for three sons of my great great grandparents I'd not known of before - none of the births are registered. Ordered three likely death certificates using the GRO indices and one is right, one wrong and one still not arrived.

The one I'm struggling to identify a death for is William Adams, son of William and Mary, born in January 1862 and baptised the same month at Holy Family, Saffron Hill, which is in West London Union district and very near Holborn district. William isn't with the family in 1871 and another William was born in 1868.

In 1861, the family are living on Saffron Hill. The child following William was born in 1863 and baptised at the same church but the whole family moved to Islington (Holloway) by 1864 and the next child was born in 1865 in Islington.

There are two deaths for William Adams in West London Union 1862-1866 both called William George and aged (1863) 24 and (1865) 46 so, setting aside the second name, not them, even in if the first one is in months.
Of the William Adams in Islington in the time frame and before ages appear in indices, GRO shows only a 55 year old in Mar qtr 1864.

The certificate I thought most likely was from Sep qtr 1862 Holborn aged 0 but this isn't him.

Have looked through the burials on Ancestry for London and NC (where the family occasionally appear at Victoria Park) but nothing there.

Can anyone see anything I'm missing?

There's a William Adams death in Holborn Sep Q 1862 1b 323 and a William Frederick June 1863.

I'm useless with UK geography so not sure if they fit.

Thanks for looking Libby - I've got the 1862 Holborn one and that's not him and the Islington one is 55 on GRO site. Will have a gander at the William Frederick.

Thanks Kate. He could have course have been registered with a completely different name. Again, if and when London RC burials go online, he may turn up.
