Mary Martin of St John Hackney, widow, signed her will on the 10th Oct 1728 and it was proved at the PCC 8 Feb 1732.
People named in it include:
My nephew Samuel Elliott of Hedingham Sibble, Essex, webster, and his brother Thomas Elliott
My niece Mrs Harrington daughter of my sister Mrs Mary Elliott
My cousins Pen and Matthews
My cousin Henry Dry of Lincoln's Inn Esq
My niece Mrs Anne Walter, wife of Mr Samuel Walter of Hull, late of Thames St, London, cheesemonger

I think Mary was related to Henry Dry's wife Abigail Cooper as her mother Sarah mentions "my cousin Mary Martin" in her will. But I thought it might be easier to have a separate thread for this one as I don't know how they were related. I don't know Mary's maiden name but am hoping to find it!

I have found Mrs Harrington's marriage: John Harrington married Hannah Elliott 3 Jan 1708 at Sible Hedingham (aka Hedingham Sible), Essex. But if her mother is "Mrs Mary Elliott", I guess she must be Mary Martin's sister-in-law rather than sister, as they are both called Mary. Or I suppose she could be a step-sister.

So I am hoping that Samuel Walter and his wife Anne might turn out to be a better clue. I found a few possible marriages:
Samuel Walter married Ann Clark 5 Sep 1704 St John Hackney
Samuel Walter married Ann Dany 4 Apr 1705 St Olave Hart Street (London)
Samuel Walter married Ann Bates 5 Oct 1718 Stepney.

Oh, here is Samuel Walter's will:

I wasn't expecting to find it so easily as he was in Hull. Also, there is an item on TNA's catalogue naming Samuel Walter and a Maynard Clarke of London, so Ann Clark is looking likely(but not confirmed). The will mentions property in Earl Soham, Suffolk, and a son Samuel jr.

I was trying to look at Mary Martin's burial record (Feb 1732, Mrs Mary Martin, St John at Hackney) just in case it gives any clues, but instead of the image I'm getting that generic filler image:

Thanks, Merry. Maybe they fixed it because I reported it, or more likely it was a temporary glitch.

There is a marriage 17 Feb 1709 at St Botolph Aldgate between Edward Martin, bachelor of the Inner Temple, and Mary Cooper, spinster of Stepney, but I haven't found anything to prove whether this is the right Mary Martin.
Edit - never mind, it can't be, because the will that mentioned Mary Martin was before that.
