George Arthur Reckless was my grandmothers first cousin born 27 December 1907 in Clifton, Nottinghamshire (1911 census place and 1939 register date)

1939 Register has him at 9 Porchester Square, Paddington, London and described as a professional singer and lead singer. He is also listed in that area of Paddington on several electoral registers of the 50's and 60's.

I have found a death with the correct date of birth in 1998 in Brent. Also, a possible marriage to Beryl Law in Rochdale, Lancashire in 1947. I can't find any children to that marriage, she also doesn't appear to be with him on the electoral registers so it's possible that he lived in lodgings or the marriage was short lived.

Can anyone find anything about him about him in newspapers? I'm absolutely useless at searching those.

Edit to say there is a possible child of that marriage in Shrewsbury but he could still be living

I've just found his sister Margaret M Reckless in 1939 as a student of music at The Royal Masonic school for girls, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.

She must have won a scholarship surely, her father was a milkman

She died a spinster. 20 March 1991, Probate.

Here's some info on his wife:

1939 Register:

Beryl Reckless (Law) 01 Mar 1923 Female Telephone Operator Shorthand Typist Single

Births Mar 1923 Law Beryl mmn Mercer Rochdale 8e 26

I presume she died after 2006 as fmp have her 1939 record open but I can't see a death.

Hmm, in theory that should mean she is dead but unfortunately you can't be sure with opened records on the 1939 Register.
