Born England 14/10/1842.

Widow; husband James McCormick.

Parents: John Clemmett and Sarah Hallen.

Is this the person you're looking for?

Oh she might be mine then, right parents name tho Hallen wasn't my Sarah maiden name. Spotted something on an Ancestry tree but was doubtful it was her.

Thanks Mary.

I looked at the GRO indexes to see if there were any Clem* children registered with that mmn Hallen (or varients) anywhere in the country from 1837-1851 and found none. I see your Eliz was registered in Q4 1842 which fits and that her bap was about six weeks after the dob given above.

Could Hallen be a corruption of Harrison (from your other thread about the family), or is that too farfetched??!

Anything is possible Merry, I'd love to be able to get to the bottom of the Clemmett/Harrison name change!

Sarah's maiden name was Johnson, she was illegitimate, the daughter of a Mr Thompson.

I think she must be my Elizabeth, but I don't have her marrying a James McCormick!

I lose her after her marriage to William Hudspith/Hudspeth in 1865.

Most of the Clemmett/Harrison family emigrate about 1870/71 so I guess she did to, but under what name!

She's definitely mine!

There a small piece in the Linton Daily Citizen to say she died at her sister, Mrs Harry Robison's home. Elizabeth's sister Ruth married Henry Robinson.

Now to work out what happened to Mr Hudspeth/Hudspith, when she married James McCormick, where she is on the census & when she went to America.

Not easy when my FMP worldwide sub ran out this week & I've only got a UK sub on Ancestry!

This fits quite well, but she has an extra initial! Good for emigration year as well as the other facts.

Snap Merry, I've just been looking at this myself.

They say they have been married for 28 years (1882) and it is a second marriage for both so this looks like a good match.

Thanks Merry, all starting to come together now.
