Hi,
Would anyone please be able to see if they can see this man on the 1841 census for me please?

John Owen, buried 4 August 1843 at Wellington All Saints, Shropshire, aged 86.

Abode given as Cottage Row.

On the 1821 census for Wellington, he is living with his son and family in Street Lane, Wellington, Shropshire. (Found by googling - someone had done a look up for another family on Rootschat). However, he doesn't seem to be with them in 1841 and I can't see him anywhere else.

1821 - aged 60 - born c1761
1843 - aged 86 - born c1757

May, or may not be the same man, but would like to find him in 1841 to hopefully rule him in/out!

Thanks for looking.

Oh, but the Booley one could be the one whose death was registered Jan-Mar 1845 Wem and Whitchurch, age 86, as it looks as though that was the district for Booley.

I can't find the Wellington one in 1841, sorry.

There are Owens living in Cottage Row in 1841, but not the man you are looking for. I suppose he's going to be related to them though:

Wm 20
Eliz 50
Sarah 25

I can't decide about the Yes and Nos for county as they are squiggly and each time look I think something different!

Sarah Owen is still there in 1851, 30 single, pauper (late nurse) b Wellington.

Thanks for looking Kate.

That is interesting Merry - they don't link into my family in any way I can see at the moment. My John, who was still alive in 1821, was married in 1780 and his wife died in 1794. If he'd had a second family, I would have thought he would be with them in 1821, rather than with one of his sons from his first marriage.

1821 census:

Reuben Owen age 34 Labourer in Trade
Millra* Owen age 35 (that's how it's transcribed - should read Millbrow)
Thomas Owen age 10
Margaret Owen age 8
John Owen age 5
Robert Owen age 6 mths
John Owen age 60 Labourer in Trade

The above are living Street Lane.

I can't see a bap for Sarah.

Thanks for looking Merry - I can't see anything either.

When (if?!) the GRO online system is opened again, I will probably buy the death cert and see if that gives any clues.
