This is quite a few steps away from my Ann Sage now, so I think it may be worth a thread of its own.

Samuel Pope, son of Charles Pope, married Harriet Sage, daughter of Thomas Nurse, 22 Oct 1837 at St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol. This is just from the transcription, I haven't seen the actual marriage register or certificate.

I assume Harriet must be the Harriet Nurse who married William Sampson Sage 8 Feb 1835 also at St Mary Redcliffe (again, I haven't seen the marriage register), and William Sampson Sage was buried at Chew Magna, Somerset, 27 Sep 1835 age 24, abode Dundry.

Can anyone find anything about Samuel or Harriet after their marriage, please?

Thanks for that, Merry. Sad that William and Harriet both died so young.

In 1870 George Philip Pope (Private in 100th Regiment) married Mary Wylie in Manchester and said his father, Samuel, was an engineer. As Samuel was a labourer in 1851 and living in Greenwich I wondered if he also joined the services? I couldn't find Samuel or Ann after 1851.

Thanks for that, Merry. I suppose this could be him in 1841, on a page with loads of Vowleses but not connected to mine as far as I know yet:
