View Full Version : 3 copies of same relative
I'm in a real pickle. I have discovered the same person 3 times in FTM 10, one with parents and grandparents and his own children, one with the children and his wife's christian name and a 3rd with no wife and his parents and grandparents but not his siblings. How on earth will get rid of 2 and unite them all together without losing information?
Only I could do something like that :(

Just merge them together, Jood. You will need to merge two of them and then merge the result with the other one. Click on "Person" near the top of the screen and then on "Merge two specific individuals".
Thanks Kate, I didn't know there was a merge facility, only a delete or attach/detach. All done now. Don't you just hate it when you have more than one entry for the same person!!
Could I quickly ask you what the name of this town is in Shropshire - I have looked everywhere. It is the third entry down next to Jane Heaven (her place of birth) I know the two either side of it - Glos, Bromsberrow

The entry before Jane's (for William's birth) isn't Bromsberrow, it's Frocester.
As for Jane's entry, I looked at the 1861 census too and that seems to say similar. I wonder if both entries are supposed to say Meole Brace? (but written the other way round)

Is Jane a second wife? She isn't with Wm and Geo in 1841 (no adult woman with them) and there is a marriage in 1842 which could be your couple (no time to check it out now). Wm Heaven and possible bride Jane Halford.
Looking at FreeREG, George's mother is Elizabeth. George was bap at Bromsberrow on 20 Aug 1837.
Here's Jane and Wm's marriage cert:

And after all that, I'm not finding a bap for Jane Jones dau of Wm at Meole Brace at the right time! lol ..... Time to go out!
I'm hoping Jane isn't someone you need to trace back! lol

No, she's not my main topic, I am tracing her husband William Heaven. It seems both had been married before - him to Elizabeth Barnard in 1818, she died in 1838, he married Jane on 26 September 1842 in Bromsberrow. They had no children. Tho she says she is from Redmarley - I don't know if that is near Bromsberrow.

I'll keep looking.

Wm Heaven and possible bride Jane Halford. You are right, she is - the first wife was Elizabeth Barnard of Gloucester (I think ) - she died in Bromsberrow 1838 aged 44. I haven't got their marriage cert at this stage.
Thanks once again Kate :)
Who is from Redmarley?
Just realised, you meant Jane on the marriage cert. Redmarley is right next door to Bromsberrow.
Ooops I was about to answer your first question and realised you'd posted again - the reply (which you now know) is
2nd Marriage to Jane Halford aged 47 widow, domestic servant of Redmarley, father William Jones, farmer (Forest of Dean). William was 49 widower, farmer of Bromesberrow, father Samuel, farmer - date 26-9-1842 at Parish church, Bromesberrow
Thans once again Merry :)
