Who is Elda??

This is my son in law's tree and i'm stuck with one child.

The Eaton family in 1901

John C age 28
Elizabeth age 28
Sarah age 7
George H age 5
Elda age 2
John W age 10mo

Elda is transcribed as Elda......looks like Elda on the image, but I cannot find a birth.

If anyone wants a go at guessing, I'd be grateful.

They are in Nottinghamshire, Warsop.

There's a Matilda born in 1899, I wonder if it was their pet name for her?

Have you checked 1911 to see if her name is the same on there?

In 1911 she is transcribed as Milda Eaton, father John Chappell Eaton, if that helps?

I think she would be Hilda born Sep 1898 in Mansfield district, as that was the district for Warsop, and Matilda was born in a different district.

I agree with Kite, that would fit nicely with an H being mistranscribed as M in 1911 !

I can easily imagine "Hilda" being mispronounced as "Elda" or mistranscribed as "Milda".
