Hello,
I wondered if you could please help me find a death for Hannah Arnold (formerly Moffitt).

Born c1831 in Northumberland.

Married George Arnold in London in 1856 at St Martin in the Fields, Westminster. Hannah was a Ladies Maid in St James' Palace (not to Queen Victoria though!).

Children:
Kate, c1858, London.
George, 1859, London.
Alice Violet, 1862, 23 Hill Street, Knightsbridge.
Frederick, JFM 1864, Knightsbridge.

George and the children are in Hammersmith in 1871, and George is a widower.

This means, we are looking for a death between 1864 and 1871, but I cannot see anything possible. Can fresh eyes see anything?

Thanks for looking,
Tom

There is a Hannah Arnold death Jan-Mar 1865 Croydon district but it is too early for age at death to be shown on the index.

Also, Deceased Online has the burial of a Hannah Arnold 20 Feb 1867 at Brompton Cemetery (Kensington and Chelsea). Again, no age at death though you can pay to view various documents which may give more information. I can't see a death reg to go with that burial.

Hi Kate,
Thank you! That burial is her.

Looked at the deceased online, and she is 36 and died at Militia Barracks, Turnham Green. George was a musician in the army and lived in barracks at different points in his life.
Parish removed from was Chiswick. Shall have to try and investigate the death certificate now.

Deaths Mar 1867
Arnold Barbarina H 36 Brentford 3a 59

Brentford is right for Chiswick/Turnham Green.

I guess her death registration must be Barbarina H Arnold, then, as the age fits. District is Brentford, which was the one for Chiswick. Jan-Mar 1867, age 36, vol 3a, p 59.

Edit - snap, Merry!

You both beat me to it. Wonder where the Barbarina comes from. Thanks both for your help :)

I shall email my contact and am sure one of us will buy the certificate.

Certificate arrived today, and it is Barbarina Hannah Arnold. Looks like mine as husband's name and occupation match.
The Barbarina bit is a mystery though.
More questions to follow, I am sure!
