Could someone please have a look at the records for Harriet Levy in the Medway Poor law Union collection on Ancestry? She is one of my brick walls, as i can't find her after appearing in the workhouse in 1881. There are 2 records showing, one for her admission and the other for her departure. All info would be gratefully appreciated.
Many thanks
I'm afraid I could only find one entry:
Name: Levy Harriet
Calling: servant
Religious Persuasion: Dissenter
When born: 1819
Class for diet: 6 (will see if it says what that is afterwards)
Parish from which admitted: Chatham
The date part of the page isn't filled in, but the transcription says it's:
Admission Date: 1881-1883
I've found three more entries now I'm using Levey.
The discharge entry says she died 22 Nov 1891.
A second discharge entry says she was aged 77 and buried by friends.
The fourth entry is just another (undated) version of the admission only this time they say she was born in 1818!
Not getting anywhere with class for diet.
Death reg has a different age!

Thank you Merry that is fantastic! Her age seems to vary greatly as does the spelling of her surname. I have her baptism in May 1822, which fits with the burial age. I will have to have a look on City Ark site, to see if I can find her burial.
Thanks Mary for that link, although the diet class 6 is for children from that list

Yes, as it says in the link, that table applied after 1900, but at least it gives you an idea of what the various diets were like.

Thanks Mary. Very few burials listed in Chatham unfortunately :(
On the admissions page where Harriet had diet class 6, all the other people admitted were older women and they all had the same diet class, except for a couple that were not filled in.

It must have been the class for older women then. Sad that she died in the workhouse, her son was working as a messenger in the Admiralty when she died and one of her other sons was able to afford a servant, shame they couldn't have taken her in.

Taken advantage of Ancestry's free weekend, to get the images and have ordered the death cert. Thanks Merry :)
