View Full Version : Eleanor Woodend

A public tree on Ancestry suggests a date of birth, in Middlesex, for Eleanor in 1770, d of Thomas Woodend and Margaret Sissons.
It also provides a date of death in St Lukes, Middlesex in 1848.
I've looked at Ancestry and Find My Past, without any joy.
British Newspapers have turned up a Mrs Cotmore in Soho in 1829, but I've still no idea what happened to Eleanor. Any bright ideas?

The nearest death registration I can see to 1848 is Ellin Cotman, Jul-Sep 1846 Lambeth. The burial record says Ellen Cotman, age 81, buried 25 Sep 1846 at South Metropolitan Cemetery / Norwood Cemetery. Abode Park Road, Stockwell.

Thanks, Kite.
That is perfectly feasible. Now to see if I can find her in 1841!

But the ancestry tree looks dubious, to say the least, as they have Eleanor's supposed parents both being born and dying in Lancashire.
And, so far as I can make out, a son born to that father in Lancs after Eleanor was allegedly born in Middlesex!
There is an Eleanor COMPTON in Norfolk Place in 1841, which appears to be in the vicinity of Vauxhall Street

This is the area Park Street was in: http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/8978/SRYHO107_1058_1058-0101/10189074?backurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.co.u k%2fcgi-bin%2fsse.dll%3f_phsrc%3dsXh703%26_phstart%3dsucce ssSource%26usePUBJs%3dtrue%26db%3duki1841%26so%3d2 %26pcat%3d35%26gss%3dangs-c%26new%3d1%26rank%3d1%26gsfn%3dhenry%26gsfn_x%3d0 %26gsln%3dscrivens%26gsln_x%3d0%26msbdy%3d1834%26M SAV%3d1%26uidh%3d9vh&ssrc=&backlabel=ReturnSearchResults#?imageId=SRYHO107_10 58_1058-0095
So Enumeration Districts 7 and 10, which don't look too far apart on the map.

the only possibles I can find within the right time frame ???
being born and dying in Lancashire looks to be possible ?...I wonder what occupation Thomas Woodend had ?....is it possible they married - moved to Middlesex and went back to Lancashire in retirement ??
